Frauke asked, "What three things in live you can not miss and which one you would love to get rid of?"
the chinese say if you own more than 3 things, the things own you.
consequently, my things own me.
i bet i am something they wouldn't mind getting rid of though.
Ismay asked,"Which instrument do you like to play?"
the chinese say if you play more than 4 instruments....hey, just kidding!
i enjoy dabbling with most instruments - to me they are all writing buddies or 'fellow composers'
that is to say, if i compose with a guitar it comes out a certain way, if i compose with piano, it comes out differently.
according to my kids, noodling on the guitar gives me this spaced out zombie-look, whereas the piano makes me look like i am about to drool.
i would not not even want to think about how i look when playing the oboe.
Nette asked "If you had to live without music or art and leave the other one for the rest of your life, which one would you take?"
i would leave music behind, because she would come after me and find me no matter where i went.
Andrea asked "You have collaborated with a few famous musician's in the past, both as a solo artist and with a-ha, who would be your "dream team" to work alongside on a new album (dead or alive)?"
i prefer to work with the living. the dead leave such long gaps in the conversation. my longest standing famous collaborator is of course Magne the great from a-ha.
he's pretty high maintenance, but occasionally makes it all worthwhile. i would have liked to just be in the room with bob dylan recording anything.
other than that, let's see; ...sufjan stevens, kurt cobain, jeff buckley...i could go on.
bbphoto asked "At what point did you recognize yourself as an artist and when and how did you chose to pursue that passion..."
i still struggle to recognize myself, but i put that down to hordes of bad photographers.
you don't choose to pursue a passion, at worst you choose not to, and pay the price.
Lesley Jeavons asked "Have you, Paul (well, Savoy) and Morten all seen each other solo live before? And if so, do you know what you all think of each others music and performances? And if not, are you looking forward to the RAH gig to see them live too?"
i have seen them both and i can never escape the feeling there is someone missing...tsk, tsk
i doubt there's any chance of seeing each other perform at the rah, but the production reheasals should be a blast!
talking about each other's music in public seems to be something we all feel reluctant about doing,
i dunno why, other than it is too close to call objectively. i guess we are too coloured by our history together.
the solo-projects are 3 very different musical entities, but if you take the strengths from each, you get what makes up a-ha on a good day,
and if you take the worst from each, it's shiiish kebab!
Magnet asked "who in your family has influenced you most? Or has been the "wind beneath your wings" ?"
my father has been a constant presence by his sheer absence. my grandfather by the grandness of his heart and his array of musical equipment.
my mother held the fort until the fort fell on her head, and as for my chosen family...well, anything i can say will be less than they deserve.
Carmen asked "recently you invited us, your fans, to take active part in some of your projects (the dolls & your official website); what do you think of the results, and are we going to have any chance to be involved in other future funny and clever ideas?"
i am very happy with these projects and i enjoy the unpredicatbility and viral quality of this approach.
my hope is that these projects inspire the participants to take their own creativity seriously.
and of course it is handy to have an army at the ready once war breaks out.
Mer asked(sorry about this one!) "Boxers, briefs, thongs or commando?"
i have done it all.
Qouda asked "Which traditions from your childhood have you passed on to your own children?"
lots of hugging.
Donna asked "Over the years Magne, you have worked in several different visual art mediums. Which visual art medium have you not had the opportunity to work with but would like to work with?
On the flip side, which visual art medium have you not worked with, and you have no desire or interest to work with?"
as if any answer to these questions would be valid in a year's time. whatever i say i have no interest in is bound to jump me in a dark alley somewhere in time,
and anything i long to do will be done by the time i hvae a chance to fromulate it...it is like that.
Must asked "What would you have become if your parents had forced you to take up an honest profession?"
a lawyer. just to prove that honest professions are full of liars.
Kelly asked "Do you prefer wild, natural gardens or neatly trimmed zen-like ones?"
a garden is by definition organised nature. i love gardening - i can watch it for hours
ilsevh asked "What advice would you give new artists ( music/art)?"
don't take advice from old farts
nicola asked "Which of your songs (either as a solo artist, or as a member of a-ha) would you most like to be remembered for?"
all the time
Ulli asked "Do you visit fan pages and forums to read in them?"
nope
hurryhome asked "what question would you ask your fans if you had the chance?"
if you were to be hit by a car - what make of car would it ideally be?
Ioanna asked "What question would you like to be asked that nobody has thought to ask you, yet?" And we'll need the answer as well!"
Q: what will be written on your headstone?
A: shit, and I was just getting started!
este hombre es g-e-n-i-a-l
Debs asked "When were you last naked in front of another person?"
once a day keeps the doctor away (except the proctologist)
belinda asked "Tell us a Joke?"
knock knock, who's there?
Este hombre es, simplemente, genial.
