By:Larm is Scandinavia’s largest music conference. Every year it moves from one Norwegian city to another. By:Larm consists of two parts: a festival and a conference. The conference is a meeting place for the Norwegian and foreign music industries. A series of lectures, seminars and debates are held during the day. The festival concerts take place at night and are open to the public. Their main focus is to present artists that are on the verge of success, either in their homelands or internationally. By:Larm’s main office is in Oslo and is operated by the firm Bureau Storm, which is led by Erlend Mogaard-Larsen. A local administrative office is set up each year in the host city. In the last ten years by:Larm has been held in Tromsø, Bergen, Stavanger, Kristiansand and Trondheim. By:Larm 2008 takes place in Oslo 21-23 February.

Competing for 800.000 kroner
Ten Norwegian bands and artists are competing for one of the largest money prizes ever awarded in the Norwegian music business. The winner will be chosen during this year's by:Larm.
A nomination group has now decided which ten artists and bands that will be competing for StatoilHydro's new talent grant of 800.000 kroner. The money are meant to help launch an international career for the winner.
And the nominees are: Madcon, Lukestar, The Lionheart Brothers, Susanna Wallumrød, Shining, Ida Maria, Ungdomskulen, Charlotte & The Co-stars, Superfamily and Serena Maneesh.
"I have, like other music fans, followed by:Larm, and I continue to be impressed by their ability to find music talents of a very high quality. That a new StatoilHydro talent grant is aiming towards exporting Norwegian artists and bands with personality and character to other countries, is something that I really believe in", says Magne Furuholmen who is the jury leader of the nomination committee.
